IWFOS 2017 dedicated to the memory of Peter Hall

The success of all the IWFOS conferences would have never been possible without the support of many people, but among all of them we wish to stress on the high role played by Professor Peter Hall. From a scientific point of view, his numerous contributions in Statistics meet naturally Functional Data Analysis and his mark is fully crossing many contributions in IWFOS 2017. He was an invited speaker of the first edition in 2008, at a moment when there were no evidence for organizing such events, and he participated as Scientific Committee member of the second edition in 2011. At this moment our thanks to Peter are mixed with our sadness for his premature death. We would like to dedicate this IWFOS 2017 to the memory of Peter Hall.
